A project that I've been putting together off and on for about two months. The initial goal was to learn the ins and outs of Substance Designer and use it as my main texturing tool for this environment, and I also wanted to try my hand at a modern decay environment. Every texture except for my main hero assets (Generator, Fire Extinguisher, and Subway Car) were created in Substance. Another goal for me was to create a master material for my scene that would help differentiate the kit I created. This included using Vertex Painting inside of UE4 to add variation, such as grime, water, rust, rubble, and under/upper materials (The best example is the wall tiles and the material under it). This was controlled with masks, that way I could get a much better transition between materials. In addition I can also change the color of materials per instance, which helped greatly on saving texture space. This was a really fun learning experience for me!
